Are you looking for the chance to share your knowledge, expertise and insights with your fellow family day care professionals?

The premier event for family day care, the FDCA National Conference gives you the rare opportunity to join some of the leading minds in early childhood education and care.

Regardless of whether this is your first time attending the FDCA National Conference or you’re a conference regular, we invite you to submit an abstract to present.

If this is the opportunity you've been waiting for, click here to submit your abstract.

Session availability at the FDCA 2025 National Conference will be limited, therefore the number of presenters selected will be restricted.

We will give strong consideration to abstracts that are interactive in nature over those that are strictly oral in delivery. Therefore, please highlight if your session will be interactive within your abstract.

Griffith University - Healthy Eating and Physical Activity in Family Day Care

Griffith University is conducting research with the parents of children enrolled in family day care to gather their opinions and strategies for improving healthy eating and physical activity in this setting.

Participants will be required to take part in a 1.5 hour online focus group, with participants receiving a $50 digital Mastercard gift card.

If you have registered families that may be interested in participating, please share this information and tell them to visit https://bit.ly/familydaycareresearch.

The research aims to discuss potential strategies to create an environment within Australian family day care where every child eats healthy and gets enough exercise. This information can be used to develop interventions that can help family day care educators create a healthy nutrition and physical activity environment.

AERO's Early Childhood Learning Trajectories - Language and communication

The Australian Education Research Organisation (AERO) has released a series of animated videos complementing their early childhood learning trajectories resource suite. These videos cover a range of topics, including language and communication, and have been designed for early childhood education professionals. The videos align with the Early Years Learning Framework V2.0 and the National Quality Standard.

Language and communication are the foundations for all learning and social interaction. They relate to many other aspects of cognitive, physical and social development, beginning in infancy.

This Early Childhood Learning Trajectory looks at children’s progress in language and communication to help you plan the next steps in their learning and development and can be used alongside the EYLF 2.0 assessment and planning cycle to support children’s learning, development and wellbeing. A practice resource on language and communication is also available on the AERO website.
