Promoting Members in 2025

FDCA's Mission is to REPRESENT, SUPPORT and PROMOTE the family day care sector in delivering high quality early childhood education and care to more Australian children.

So, what is FDCA doing for members in this coming year to achieve our Mission? Below, we share a snapshot of just some of the work and initiatives we have in the pipeline to promote you in 2025.

National Digital Advertising Campaign

In 2025 FDCA will continue to promote family day care through a national digital advertising campaign. This campaign showcases family day care as the natural choice for early childhood and care for families and as a rewarding and attractive career option for early childhood educators.

The family day care national digital advertising campaign plays a critical role in generating care leads for educators and driving potential new educators to FDCA’s Careers Hub. During 2024, the campaign helped to generate over 19,000 Locator enquiries from families looking for early childhood education and care, that’s almost 1,600 leads per month for FDCA members!

In the same period, the recruitment component of the campaign drove more than 19,900 visitors to the FDCA Careers Hub.

The advertising campaign will utilise Facebook, Instagram and Google Ads to connect with families and potential educators in 2025.

Excellence in Family Day Care Awards

The Excellence in Family Day Care Awards playing a crucial role in generating positive media coverage for the family day care sector and offers communities across Australia the opportunity to recognise those in the sector who continue to deliver exceptional family day care.

This year will mark the 14th anniversary of the Awards.

In 2024, the Awards saw more than 5,000 nominations placed and generated 169 positive media stories about family day care that reached over one million people. This result demonstrated the amazing work being done by educators, coordinators and services and the impact they have on the community and families they serve.

Nominations for the 2025 Excellence in Family Day Care Awards will open in May.

National Family Day Care Week

National Family Day Care Week (FDC Week) provides an opportunity for the family day care sector to unite and celebrate the vital role that family day care plays in the education, development and wellbeing of over 75,000 Australian children.

The annual celebration gives us a perfect opportunity to showcase family day care, and its nurturing natural approach, to media and the wider community.

A long-standing Member Initiative, FDC Week will celebrate 13 years in 2025 and we will be calling on all FDCA members to get involved to celebrate this milestone by hosting a National Family Day Care picnic. It can be large or small, indoors or outdoors or as part of a special excursion, it’s up to you! We will be encouraging members to register their picnics so that we can share them with media outlets and raise the profile of family day care in communities across Australia.

Family Day Care Week will be held from 5th – 11th May in 2025.

Family Day Care Locator

Over the last two years the FDCA Family Day Care Locator has generated 41,758 early childhood education and care enquiries for FDCA members, that’s 1,740 enquiries per month!

The campaign will include digital advertising via Google Ads, Instagram and Facebook, job board advertisements, media releases, family day care advocacy and direct marketing strategies to promote the family day care educator career path.

The program includes an initial applicant screening, validation, and referral of suitable educators to service members, followed up by service satisfaction surveys on the process. The campaign will also build awareness, both within the sector and more broadly, of career opportunities within family day care.

The objective of the National Educator Recruitment Program is to grow applications and educator referrals nationally and in areas of demand and offer a ‘one point of contact’ for family day care educator applications nationally.

Strategic Media Engagement

A key role that FDCA plays as your national peak body is engaging with media outlets on a timely and strategic basis.

While strategic media engagement is a pillar in a number of ongoing member initiatives such as the Excellence in Family Day Care Awards and National Family Day Care Week, FDCA will seek to engage with the media particularly in the early learning discourse and landscape.

FDCA will also engage with the media to promote any projects or research that FDCA is partaking in, to boost the overall awareness of family day care.
