Baulkham Hills Family Day Care, a service of Catholic Care Western Sydney and the Blue Mountains has marked an exciting milestone, celebrating 45 years of fostering children's growth and development.
The anniversary was commemorated this month with the vibrant 2024 Baulkham Hills Family Fun Day and Graduation ceremony in Dural, drawing over 200 families and educators for a day filled with fun activities. Highlights included pony rides, a jumping castle, a petting zoo, dance performances, and a surprise visit from St Nick! Local community groups also contributed with engaging activities, while the local Rural Fire Brigade let kids explore a fire truck, sparking imaginations.
Carolyn Liddiard, who has been part of the Baulkham Hills Family Day Care team for 18 years, reflected on the event’s growth, saying, “I’ve seen it evolve from a small gathering into this incredible celebration.” She also highlighted the sector’s progress, noting, “We’ve moved away from the image of just childcare to being recognised for our high standards of care, professional qualifications, and comprehensive programming.”
Debra Magin, with Baulkham Hills Family Day Care for 14 years, shared her passion for supporting educators, saying, “The best part of my role is empowering educators to believe in their talents and reach their full potential.” She takes pride in mentoring educators and watching them build their own businesses, all while nurturing children’s growth.
Emma Low, Family Day Care Coordinator, emphasised the service’s personalised approach, stating, “Children build confidence and trust with the same educator, which helps them thrive.” She added, “Our educators are incredibly passionate, always finding creative ways to foster children’s independence and self-confidence.”
The event was a wonderful opportunity for families to come together, celebrate, and discover more about Baulkham Hills Family Day Care’s unique, home-based childcare services across Western Sydney and the Blue Mountains.

Have you seen the Recipes for Fun call out this week on our Facebook page? The theme for this month’s recipe is Christmas or summer.
We love seeing the inventive creations that educators share on social media and want to share them with our online community. By sharing these creations with our community, we hope to inspire educators to try out something new.
Educators can take part by sharing a picture and caption of their Christmas or summer themed activity, provocation or resource on the Recipes for Fun in FDC post on our Facebook page. If selected, we’ll ask for short step-by-step instructions (including photos) for the activity so we can make a how-to guide for other educators to follow.
The lucky educator who is selected to share their creation will win a $50 visa gift card!
Our focus is to keep the activities simple and cost effective, so that all children and educators can jump in and have fun.
We can’t wait to see, and share, your great Christmas and summer ideas!
The Australian Government Department of Education has released information about Child Care Subsidy (CCS) payments, session reports, absences and service closures over the holiday period.
