Who can be nominated in the Excellence in Family Day Care Awards?

The Excellence in Family Day Care Awards are open to all Family Day Care Australia members. Educator and services may only be nominated if they are a member of Family Day Care Australia. Coordinators may only be nominated if their service is a member of Family Day Care Australia. If you would like to become a member please call 1800 658 699.

‍How are educators, coordinators and services nominated and selected?

Family Day Care Australia are looking for those who demonstrate a commitment to ongoing quality improvement, innovation and a commitment to quality care and education based on the core values of family day care. During the nomination period you are invited to nominate your educator, coordinator or service via a simple online nomination form. When an educator, coordinator or approved service is nominated they will be advised of their nomination via email. During the nomination period, a weekly email will be sent to all nominees informing them that they have been nominated. A weekly nomination list will also be published on this website.

Once the submission deadline has passed (11:59pm AEST, 23 July 2023), a number of judging phases take place in the lead up to the announcement of the Excellence in Family Day Care Awards National Winners. Regional winners (educators only), Star Award winners and national finalists in each category are selected by an official FDCA selection committee. Following the selection of the national finalists by the FDCA selection committee, each finalist is reviewed by an external sector expert. Following this review process a national winner from each category is selected. These winners are the Excellence in Family Day Care Awards Educator of the Year, Coordinator of the Year and Service of the Year.

How do I place a nomination?

To place a nomination, visit www.familydaycare.com.au/awards and select the category you wish to place a nomination in. It is then as simple as completing and submitting the online nomination form.

Can I nominate myself / the service I work for/own?

Unfortunately not. However, once you have been nominated, you will be able to tell us in a supporting submission about the important role you play in the family day care sector, in particular the lives of the families in your care.

How do I know if my nomination / submission went though successfully?

If your nomination / submission has been submitted correctly, you will receive email confirmation within 20 minutes that Family Day Care Australia has received it.

How do I place a submission?

As we will be notifying nominees of their nomination via email, it is essential that your email address is registered with FDCA and that our email address, marketing@fdca.com.au has been added to your safe sender list (this is particularly important if you use Hotmail, Outlook, Yahoo, Optus and Bigpond).

Educators, coordinators and services that are nominated will receive an email from Family Day Care Australia to notify them of their nomination.

This email will contain a link that will direct nominees to a submission form. Submissions must be placed via our online form.

A list of nominees will also be posted on this website and updated on a weekly basis.

I cannot fit my nomination / submission into the form, can I email or post it to you?

We are unable to accept hard copy or emailed nominations or submissions as we cannot confirm the character count and this would give you an unfair advantage. All nominations and submissions must be submitted via the relevant online form.

I have been told that I was nominated, but I haven't received an email, what do I do now?

Here are a few things you can do

• Check our 2023 nominees pages and check if your name is on one of the lists (the nominees page is updated regularly), if your name does appear on the nominees page, see the next step
• Check your email to see if the notification email went to your Junk/Spam folder - if it did, mark us (marketing@fdca.com.au) as a Safe Sender to ensure you receive future communications from us
• One reason may be that you have previously unsubscribed from email communications from us. If you have or you are unsure if you have, email us at marketing@fdca.com.au
• It could simply be that your email address isn't registered with us yet. Email us at marketing@fdca.com.au to update your email address.
