What is the FDCA Recruitment Process?

We are here to support and guide you through the recruitment process to becoming a family day care educator.

You’ll find information and resources on everything from your future earning potential as a family day care educator to real stories from current educators in the sector.

As an approved form of early education and care, family day care educators are required to hold a few important qualifications and documents.

When you apply through our Careers Page, you’ll be asked to register your interest and provide some details about yourself do not worry if you have not obtained all the qualifications and documents at this point.

Our recruitment process below is designed to help your application and the services we support in providing them with as much information about you as possible.

As you transition through the recruitment process, including an initial informal interview with one of our friendly team members, you will need to have in place or work towards obtaining:

  • an approved Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care;
  • a First Aid and CPR Certificate;
  • training in the emergency management of asthma and anaphylaxis;
  • appropriate clearance for working with children (see AIFS website for more information);
  • a National Police Check within the last 6 month (FDCA can provide this); and
  • Public Liability Insurance (FDCA can provide this).

Once you have passed through the screening and completion of documents required, this will be followed by referral to a local family day care service of your choice, where if successfully assessed, a local induction process will be undertaken by your NEW family day care service, to review and assess your skills and experience as an educator and help you get the best out of your home environment.

Referrals to local family day care services will be done in accordance with skills and experience, a check of the relevant required documentation and current vacancies.
